Carved with prominent eyes, pursed lips & nose, Designed to hold the shape of bonnets and hats popular in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. This example, although primitive has been majestically carved capturing the features well, it really is a fine example of late 18th or early 19th Century regional carpentry. Their constant wide eyed gaze looking over the bonnets and the homes or workshops of the wearers and makers encapsulates their ethereal beauty France Circa 1800..
