Lead Cistern
Stock Number: 4350A 19th Century Lead Cistern depicting Cherubs and Putti at work and play, Putti riding Chariots being pulled by some and pushed by others, most likely after drawings by Niccolo Vanni of the most significant 18th Century Archaeological documentation of excavations of Frescos at Pompei, Ercolano and Stabiae after the area was encapsulated by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79AD. Unusual Oblong form cistern, each panel cast in relief. Good weathered condition, some small historical repairs, perfectly sound. England, Circa 1860.
