It is handmade in the most affectionate sense - irregular, playful and alive with personality. The cap is broad and slightly askew, its surface textured, Paint, without fuss is original a mottled field of earthy reds, ochres and soft browns,,colours bleed into patinated weathering as if sun and rain have collaborated over time to soften the edges. Small, whimsical details enhance its charm, the detail of the underside of the cap. and multiple smaller mushrooms and reeds growing from the base. The sculpture radiates a humble, grounded warmth, transforming an ordinary mushroom into an object of delight and quiet storytelling. Painted, hand rendered Cement France, Circa 1950.
