Stock Number: 4507Unusually Large Early 19th Century Arched Pediment Marriage Cupboard. Painted in the folk art tradition. Marriage cupboards of this size and importance were generally made as commissions for newlyweds offered by their respective families, highlighted by the painted date of 1804, along with the names of the Married couple Maria & Ebnerin. Condition is commensurate with age, there are some small areas of wear and paint loss, specifically to the base and exposed edges. Slow grown thick Pine. seperates into two vertical sections for transport. Northern Europe 1804.
