Stock Number: 4580Writing Desk or Console in Walnut in the Louis X111 Style. Excellent patina of the dense tight grain of the walnut, the legs and stretchers are turned into twisting form, each elevated with another interlocking rib creating powerful double torsade effect. Each leg stands on bold, flattened bun feet. The stretchers and two central balusters replicate the pattern of the legs animating and elevating the whole desk. The rectangular top houses two drawers, and lozenge decoration to the corners. The form is bold, classical Louis X111, however the virtuosity of the construction and turning along with the quality of the timber stand this example apart. Walnut, France Circa 1860.
