Arts & Crafts Geometric Mirror
Stock Number: 4763A fine early 20th-century wall mirror, with a strongly geometric architectural frame. The rectangular bevelled mirror plate is enclosed by a moulded walnut surround, with stepped projecting corners and angular carved decoration creating a distinctive symmetrical design. The upper and lower sections are particularly well detailed with geometric chevron and triangular motifs, characteristic of the period's revivalist and Arts & Crafts-influenced design. The walnut has developed a rich, warm colour with an attractive aged patina, highlighting the natural grain and crispness of the carved details. A handsome and decorative mirror with considerable architectural presence. Hangs well landscape or portrait. England, Circa 1920, Condition commensurate with age, some minor historical evidence of worm.
