Each sconce is formed from a long, slender vertical brass backplate with a softly rounded upper end, incorporating a projecting candle shelf and simple cylindrical candle socket. The restrained geometric design gives the pair a strong architectural quality, while the substantial brass construction and finely finished surfaces suggest a particularly well-made example of Scandinavian design. The brass has developed a warm, naturally aged patina, the back plate has been polished more regularly presumably to capitalise on its reflective qualities.
